Just bought it.
Was it a good choice for my Pedersol 45-70-90-120?
Do the driving bands have alle the same dia.?
And all interesting things you might tell me please..........

Best regards,

Manuel

If it is one Walt made you have a great mold. You will have to cast few boolits to actually see what comes out of it. They you can see if it fits your barrel. If it does, you can then play with alloy mixes to see what your rifle likes.

Are you shooting BP or smokeless? Is yours a 45-70, 45-90, or 45-120?

Hello Wayne,

thanks for your help.
I am shooting a Pedersoli Sharps 45-70, but will also cast for friends, who own Sharps and RB up to 45-120.
For my Rifle i will have to calibrate the bullets to .458 dia.
I am shooting BP and Smokeless.
What do you mean with "Walt Made"??

Best regards,
Manuel

Since Walt left us, many on here and other places have questioned NEI quality, I'm neutral as I have many good NEI molds. Instead I would go with some of the excellent makers on this site, NOE, Mihec and others.

that is NOT a "Walt" made NEI, (ie one of the old ones that really is a great work of art as well as usefull) it is a "new" one, meaning it was made after Walt died.
So, it should not command a premium on price. I cannot tell what you paid for it nor am I asking.

All the driving bands should be the same diameter.

If the mould works well for you good deal. If not, well time to sell it.

Manual, your NEI mold as it says is the Paul Jones Creedmoor design, one of the more popular and accurate bullets in the US. I regularly shoot the same bullet from a Paul Jones mold 1:20 alloy as cast, in`a Sharps 45-70, 70gr KIK FFg with a 1/8" dry felt wad (1124 fps) ... at 1000yds. It will shoot much better using black powder, either KIK FFg or Swiss No 4 (68gr) or No 3. (70gr). See what powder charge your rifle likes. Do not crimp the case with a 0.001 to 0.002 neck tension if you use BP. And be sure to anneal your case necks. A dark straw color or bluish green is the right temperature - 343 to 360 degrees Centigrade
PS: Your bullets will also shoot well in the 45's up to 45-120

Enjoy Your New Mold!

I cannot tell what you paid for it nor am I asking.
Price paid for the mold is on egun ... 97 Euro = $US 119.1257
Prices across the pond are substantially higher than in the US including the price of gun powders

Hello,

it's twelve o'clock at night and i just tried the NEI mold.
what a fantastic piece!
It needs lots of heat, about 800F
But when hot it casts wonderful .463 bullets, that i can easily size to .458
I am wondering, how they will fly.

Good night everybody,

Manuel
