Yup, it's a pain. If the part needs to look good, pay a professional to do it for you.

Here's a 'spearment to improve castability, I used the acid tank and battery charger method and Rit clothes dye:

Have you cast with it yet? Did it improve?

OH YEAH! I did a writeup on it a while back in the castboolits forum. The oxide layer helps keep heat in the blocks, I was able to slow down from four pours per minute with 675F WW alloy to three pours. Lead will not stick to the finish, although the heat bleached it out some. Also, there is absolutely no lead smearing on top of the blocks, and the finish holds Bullplate sprue plate lube like parkerized steel holds oil, it's really amazing. I plan to do more in the future, but all the aluminum moulds I have currently other than this one do just fine without it. Moulds that have better alignment pins (like just about every one except Lee two-cavity) might be tough to do due to having to remove all the hardware and hope that the press-fit stuff goes back properly. I had no problems with this one.

That's interesting and COOL. I wonder if that should be an option at the NOE or other Custom Mfgs for an added cost. Your choice of colors, even.

I originally got the idea I think fromMatt Burkett. I think he had an AR made by JP Rifles and it was anodized green.

Then lately the pics from 3 Gun Nation have got me interested in say annodizing or painting my scope mount:

Might want to look here http://www.tacticalmachining.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=11 .

I have never tried it myself, but it does interest me.
