It was one of those situations when everyone else was there for something else. There were several people there for one item but not for the whole pile. He made a big mistake by getting in a hurry. Only 3 people even made bids. Next time it may bring more than book value. It is always fun to go but if you don't know what it is worth you can get burned.
Is there a site where I could download the instructions for the RCBS trimmer? Yhe Lyman was obvious but I haven't spotted the trick for the RCBS one unless there is a part missing.

Have you tried the Product Instructions page on the RCBS website?

Wills: The link had the info. Thanks. The corse adjustment bushing seems to have beenstuck with oxidized oil and I didn't want to get too happy with the tapping without some better info. It is working now except for the shell holders. Midway has those.
No mask and no guns Just the blind sow and acorn syndrome.

Auctions can be good or bad for both the seller and the buyer. You have to know what things are worth and set a limit you don't want to go over; then stick to it.

I go to several auctions a year, you soon learn which auctioneers get in a hurry and let items go way to cheaply. There are a few around here that while I will go to their auctions and buy stuff, I will never let them handle an auction of mine; and if my daughter does after I am gone I will haunt her for at least three decades.

It seems to me that most reloading gear brings a very small percentage of its worth at auctions, I bought an RCBS Rockchucker for fifteen bucks one time.

rhead,

If that Rockchucker just happens to be one more press you don't need, I'm next door in Oklahoma...chuckle. GREAT DEAL!!!

hivoltfl,
I think I saw your stuff on Ebay. Lot of neat 'GUY' stuff that was gun/reloading related. The seller stated she'd gotten it all in her divorce.

My best auction purchase was a Dillon primer pocket swage for $5. The bidding started at $15 and when it went down to $5 I bid. No one else did... :)

Some dude posted in the classifieds here about a week ago looking for an All American press! LOL

I thought I did good at the gunshow yesterday. I picked up a belding and mull powder measure in the box with the tube for 20.

You hit a once in a lifetime home run with that one. What a deal!

I have found some great deals at auctions, some of them extremely great. The way I do it is determine what I will bid before bidding starts, write it down, and then not exceed that maximum. Some days it's cheaper to buy new, some days I find a lifetime supply of primers or shotgun wads dirt cheap. If the weather is bad I find that will keep a lot of people away. DALE
