Picked up a P - 94 today in .40 S & W. Nice pistol. I plan on using the bullet you see in the link below along with several other .40 designs :

Blue Dot is your best friend when it comes to 40 S&W loads.

Nice gun there Ben. Does the slide really have a plum colored blue job or is it the lighting etc.? I have several Rugers with the same plum color finish on some of the steel parts. Wouldn't be so bad if it didn't clash so badly with other parts.

Sorry, not trying to be critical of your gun at all, just commenting on something that I think Ruger could fix.

Yes Keith, I'd say that " Plum " is about the best description for the color on the slide.

This one ( assuming it is 101% reliable ) will end up being carried in my vehicle for SD use. I have this .40 cal. mold that Buckshot HP'd for me about 4 yrs. ago. It is still in my mold cabinet and I wouldn't sell it ! ! Should be a fine round for SD !

Nice gun! Can't help on the 40 as I've yet to shoot one. A few years back I picked up a pair of P series rugers, a P90 and P95 as I recall I payed $525 for the pair. Both accurate reliable guns. I ended up trading off the P95, but kept the 90. The only problems I had were some light loads in the 9 that wouldn't consistantly bring the slide back far enough, and not seating swc's deep enough in the 45acp to get the gun into battery. Once I figured that out no problems.

Seems a few folks like to trash talk Rugers, but I'd say the P series is a solid gun.

For all they may lack in panache, the Ruger P series guns are none-the-less excellent fire arms that will give sterling service for many years. The range I used to shoot at had a 9 mm rental gun that had fired something in excess of 90,000 rounds with one spring change and new mags " a few" times. For the money, they are one of the absolute best buys out there.
