Yep, me either. Hope it was successful. I have back problems but I really need a belly removal and I think that would improve it. I read about a guy performing lyposuction on himself. I wonder if he used a wet vac?

Try rocking back with your legs on those biguns instead of bending backwards.

Glad you made it through Okay Lloyd.

The hardest part will be allowing yourself the time it takes to heal properly before getting active again.

Take care, I'm on my way out the door to the gunshow. I'll keep my eyes open and shoot you a PM this evening!

Heal up, don't push it. Think about recoil pads - they made a big difference to me. Try to take a walk every day, even if it's just a short one. A good PT is worth his/her weight in gold.

Glad to hear it went OK Lloyd. Just think about how much better you'll feel when it's all over, that always helps me. Take it easy, don't lift any pails of wheelweights!

LLoyd,

Did you throw out your back with that huge Linotype haul you made a couple months ago? :)

Good luck...

Don't worry LLoyd, I broke my back about 25 years ago. After 3 fusions I'm amazed at the improvements in medical sciences. first operation had me in bed for several weeks! The last one .I was on my feet in a coupje days. Now they probably send you home the same day!

Hey Lloyd, hope you're feeling better and get back into action soon.

My reloading partner and I went through the goods you sent back with me on our last swap. We feel we came out so far ahead on that deal that we are a bit embarrassed about it. You were very generous. I will put together a package of more stuff that I figure you might have a use for and drop it off on my next trip through town.

This related to picking up a ton of lino a while back??? Or, is it relate to shooting those oversized hand cannons?? Just kidding, get well soon.

Take it easy and hopefully you'll heal quickly.

I've had some bouts of tennis elbow for the last 20 years or so, it once got so bad that I couldn't shoot any handgun over a .22 rimfire. I thought my life was over.....but with some time and an elastic band it finally healed.

Lloyd, Very sorry to hear about your back. We'll keep you in our prayers for a quick and painless recovery. One quick tip to help the back with heavy loads, I purchased an "El Cheapo" truck crane for my pick-up. It was a C note at a Chinese/all third world countries tool sale. Bolted in the bed of the truck, it picks up 5 gallon buckets of wheel weights and swings them into the bed far easier than I can. It must have been a good by, even my wife approved of it. I think that was because she is tired of helping be out of bed the week after I make a wheel weight run.
Best of luck with your recovery!

Lloyd Smale, sorry to hear you had to go the operation route. Been there twice myself so I know it is not easy. Do what your doc says, give it time to heal up, and don't over-do things when it gets better. And it does get better over time.

Sorry to hear about anyone having to have the back surgery but like someone said already, it worked for them. I had 2 and it worked for me better this last time but I am occasionally reminded to take it easy. Gotta quit lifting transmissions and toolboxes-I did!

Takes 6-months for bone to heal they told me so don't push it! May you have a speedy recovery.

Lloyd, I too did not know you had a back problem or surgery, heres to hoping you have a full and speedy recovery. Have had 2 fusion surgeries myself, only you know when, where and how much to do. As the others said don't over do it.

LMT
Licensed massage therapist.
Three years ago I struggled every day to get out of bed.
Had to scoot my body to edge of bed and then try and swing my legs over the edge of the bed.
Started going to a massage therapist(actually a local schools student clinic) and initiated a therapy program.
Now, three years later, I have very fluid mobility and have hardly any back discomfort.
In her working on me she managed to get a nerve in my hip either unpinched or just freed up.
Last week she worked on my ankle which was giving me problems when walking up stairs. Immense difference right now as I type.
She's adding useful years to my life, no doubt in my mind.
Many insurance plans do pay for massage therapy.
Oh, before becoming a massage therapist, she worked as a physical therapist technician with a local sports program.
A friend of mine who had a steel rod placed in his back, also experienced an increase in mobility and lowering of the pain he was in after massage therapy.
If at all possible, give it a good honest try.
Usual disclaimers!8-)

Loyd, May God Care for your recovery. You do your part. I didn't know this was going on or would have been praying for you all the way.

Only a week away from shooting - that ain't half bad. Did he say no reloading for that week???

Yours musta been pretty bad. My doc said they do surgery as a last resort nowdays. First they give anti-arthritic meds and then pricey spinal shots.

Lloyd, sure hope your recovery is quick, I know something bout what you are experiencing myself. I have two "dissolved" discs, the bottom two, and the vertibra above that has shifted forward a good bit. (I'll have an MRI tomorrow at 6:30 am to see what, if anything, can be done.)

Hang tuff and let it heal good before you stress any of those tendons, ligaments and muscles. We can't make cut up and tender tissue heal faster by trying to "work the pain out!"

Lloyd,
Know what you going through, been cut on twice (back). Result of a sky-diving.
accident. Would not let'em fuse the vertabre, used teflon inserts instead. Get well

You really snuck that one passed me there, mate, wishing you a speedy recovery.

Like a few other members here, I too know all about back pain. In my case I was born with it, A curvature of the spine. It didn't start with the pain cycle until I reached my late thirtys.

Now I have to really careful how I do things including lifting buckets of weights or I will suffer for days after.

A Sport Massage Therapist helps with my pain.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery,
John.

I was caught on my hands and knees under a big wood chipper when the blower chute fell on my back. Dec 19 2001. 22 times under aenesthesia since- mostly attempts by pain specialist. Luckily the stuctural, bone, part wasn't too badly damaged.

A person finds out he isn't bullet proof and can feel pretty down. But, if a person has half a brain, he realizes he can be thankful it wasn't much, much worse. In my case it's being a paraplegic with my 80 year old mother wiping the spit off my face.

Good luck on your recovery!
