Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has tried some light 100 grain boolits in .357 mag. at around 800-900 fps as a kind of a real light plinker. I have a Ranch Dog mould for the .380 that throws a .358" slug and was wanting to see if that would be a fun thing to shoot . Just don't know about what kind of powder and charge to use. Wouldn't want to stick one in the barrel. Would be shooting these out of a Ruger sp101 with a 4" barrel. I have some variety of fast burning pistol powders to work with.

Any luck with these?

My wife and I have put literally thousands of 105 gr. bullets downrange in SASS matches over the years. I use Bullseye for our loads and they're clocking right at 825 fps from our revolvers.

I've shot some impressive groups on paper with them from the bench, so they've proven to be a good bullet for our use, and the lead makes more bullets per pound using them.

Hope this helps.

Fred

I've shot quite a few of the lee 105 gr bullets and while I've never chronoed them, I'd suspect ~4gr of bullseye should get you in the ballpark of what you're looking for. Honestly I'd tweak the powder charge for best accuracy and live with whatever velocity you get, whether 800 fps or 1000 fps.
