In light of the recent shootings in colorado, I have been thinking of upgading to a Kahr 45 for CCW year round. I was wondering if any members own a Kahr 45. They make a pm 45 which is their compact version(not much smaller than the CW 45)
The CW has a conventional rifled barrel and the others use polygonal rifling.
Thoughts?
PM = 5=1
P=6+1
CW=6+1

I'm thinking 5+1 of 45 trumps 5 or 6 of 38

I have the cw45 and it's a handful. For that size pistol I prefer my cw9. Kahr makes fine pistols though.

the kahr is a handful but is controlable. I doubt you would ever feel the recoil in a stress situation but it may make you want to practice less. You may want to take a peek at the new xd single stack but the the price of the kahr is most excellent.

I have 3 Kahr s a PT45 , CW45 and a PM9 and have shot on a few occasions friends PM/CM40 and PM45 we all agreed those 2 are handfulls & would not be my choice! although i love my PM9 for IWB summer carry. and its pleasent to shoot.
I bought the CW45 to save about $200 and IMO in actual use, performance & accuracy you give up nothing and the grip is large enough to get your whole hand on it without the butt being short as is the case with the PM line .So IMO buy the CW45 it still packs easley in the summer with a t shirt & a Galco IWB holster. i orgionaly bought it mainly for when i wear outer clothing. The PT45 is one of my house guns.
I also have a tricked out Para Ordance P12 with alloy frame for 18 years but like carring the Kahrs alot more.

My partner had a Kahr 45 and it was very ammo sensetive and not very reliable. It went back to the factory twice so far and still only shoots with one brand of ammo. This would NOT be my first choice. On the other hand his Kahr 9 is dead reliable.

I have got friends with 9mm and 380 Kahrs and they are happy with them. Personally I would recommend what I myself carry daily and that is a 357mag S&W j-frame.

I bought a pair of Kahr CW45 pistols a year or so back.... one each for my wife and daughter.

The manual clearly states that at least 200 rounds should be fired through a new one before trusting it to function reliably, and this has proven true. AFTER 200 rounds, ours are very good indeed, including cast RN loads for practice.

The trigger action (DAO) is extremely smooth and light, about six pounds in my estimation.

Handling is simple as it gets. No safety to concern the shooter! Just chamber a round and that's it.

Quality of manufacture is very high on our guns, and I am impressed. For the +/- $500 i paid for each, I consider them to be a good buy.

I have been thinking about the CM9 myself.

I have a Kahr CW45. It has been reliable out of the box. I actually find it pleasant to shoot and don't find the recoil at all objectionable. It is a very well made, compact, and ergonomic pistol.

The struggle I am having is switching away from my CT laser gips on my J frame to the CM9 which give me a little more power and a few extra shots.

I carry daily a P45 year round for the last 2 1/2 years. installed the grip wrap which made it more pleasurable to shoot.Wouldn't trade it for anything else

All of my Kahr s were broken with approx up to 100 rounds of factory equivlent handloaded ammo with jacketed bullets and after that around 500+ cast bullets from each gun with no problems . IMO reliable , & very accurate firearms ! I use a Saeco # 068 200 gr swc in the 45s
& the Saeco # 377 122 gr tc in my 9mm

Not, that I am aware of, with the switchbuilt right into the grip.

I have a PM9 and love it. It's great little gun. The only other compact 9 that I've shot is my father's Walther PPS. I can't stand the PPS, but to each his own.

I have a CW45 and it's pretty pleasant to shoot. The slide stop broke on me a couple of weeks ago but a call to Kahr had one in the mail that day. From where I'm sitting I would purchase again.
