Got this one with a 320gr LEE moving 1520fps at the muzzle out of my TC Contender, shot was around 40 yards.

The boolit spun him around but he didnt do anything after that. I am considering using this combo for deer and elk up in the mountains this year. Here is a short video of 2 water jugs I shot with it.

I don't think you're using enough gun. Just think what would have happened if you had made a bad shot and he had come after you? You should stick to the 45-70 next time for big critters like that.
Seriously, good shootin buddy!

I have alway's been facinated by the thought of comparing the projectile and target size and then upsizing to human size. .22 rf and a squirrel? Like hitting a man in the chest with a bullet the size of a tennis ball, or thereabouts.

320gr. boolit and a jack? Softball? Cannonball?

BTW- the vid. of the gallon jugs was'nt near as much fun as listening to your wife laugh at the end:

(Try to get her to shorten up the stock, I think she would be way more comfortable.)

That was after I put it together for her she didnt have much trigger time on it yet. She has alot of time on it now.

The 45 Colt pushing that 320gr WFN is a killing machine though. I dont doubt that it would punch through both sides of an elk......just barely enough for jacks though.

Man that's a good looking brake on that gun. And to think that 45 colt load puts out more energy then jer's 45-70 lol

That contender is sort of an ugly looking critter, but it obviously got the job done.
My last Wy Jack, was on the run at probably 30-35 yds with a Ruger 10-22, with HP Stingers, and didn't feel undergunned at all!

What do you mean "ugly looking critter". I just bought a mini-14 to go with all my T/C's. Now that mini is ugly. Ask any liberal

That looks just about like the set up I am using for the out of control rabbits here right now. I'm using the super 16 45/410 with Rynite butt stock and forend with my own 3" reloads. The devils are squeezing through the fence into the garden with this drought we are having. When go inside and flush them they hit the fence running they can't get through. Tried using the pistol grip set up but I couldn't swing it fast enough for the fast moving targets.
