I been using the LEE C309-180-R, tumble lubed in LLA no gascheck on it, in my 30-06, 300 Win Mag and 30-30 with pretty good results.

Been a few years since I shot much though so I can not remember what loads I was using or exact group sizes etc.

The RCBS 30-180-SP (about 190-grains fully dressed) has been very accurate in the '03-A3 and the K-31's, and Lyman's 311291 (about 180-grains fully dressed) has been a close second. The lighter Lyman 311466 (about 160-grains fully dressed) has not performed as well, though I'm still experimenting.

I was given a box of Lyman 311299. They are about 205 and shoot very well out of my mod 70.

Just about any 30 cal boolit of 170+ weight and .310Ø or larger with .299-.301Ø nose shoots pretty good. Slugging the barrel determans the above Ø's

Lyman 311291 or 311314(?) the .303 boolit sized .311 over 20-22 grns of 4759 if your '06 won't shoot that it won't shoot nothin.

Take a look at the 31-185G. If your bore/groove is .300/.308 you might want him to shrink everything down a fuzz except the gas check shank. If you like Hornady gas checks as I do, you'll particularly like the tapered shank, otherwise ask him to make it straight like normal. You might also take a look at the 311299 for a nice heavyweight, or the 311679 upon which my design is loosely based, but I needed a fatter boolit for my rifle's oversized dimensions (Tom to the rescue again).

The design is similar to the Lyman :

My dad had this one made by Tom and it's been a very good performer for him. He has also worked with the Lyman 311299 and it's been alright at the lower velocities in his Weatherby 30-06 but the Accurate Mold 31-215L runs top for accuracy at nearly all velocities he's worked with.

I've been using the Lyman # 311284 for a number of years with great results. Around 2,000 fps gave me the best overall performance out of my old Remington 700.

I'll second the RCBS 30-180-SP. I've had good accuracy in several .30/06s with it./beagle

+1 on the RCBS 30-180-SP, especially in 2-groove 03A3. About 190ish when dressed,

I like the Accurate 245C in mine, 35gr of H4895 gives me 1950fps.

well I have a suggestion but it's not in Tom's line up.

I kinda like this one for target punching.

I've been working up a 30-06 load for hunting season.

I'm using the Lee 180gr round nose.
Powder is WC846 (similar to H335, BLC-2, WC844).
Homemade gas checks and homemade lube.
.07 dacron filler with each load. Loads are written next the the groups, 26gr-30gr.

This was at 50 yards, all 5 shot groups. 26gr seems the best for my gun, about 2moa if you count the flier, plenty accurate for hunting. In a couple weeks I'll take a bunch of 26gr out to the 200 and 300 yard range to see how it does.

There's probally a little more accuracy in the bullets since I'm not sizing them to the bore. I think you'll be happy with just about any design in the 160-210gr range.

You didn't menton the rifle, but I have five 30-06 rifles. Two US 1917, Three US 03A3s, and one Winchester 70. I also have a Garand but don't shoot cast in it.

While 2" at 50 yards (4 MOA) cast bullet groups may be good enough for hunting, you rifle if it is not a beater, will do much better than that. 2 MOA groups at least, probably 1.5 MOA and maybe less are not that hard to come by with a good 30-06 rifle.

A "minute of angle" is one inch at a hundred yards. If you shoot at 50 yards you have to multiply the inch size of your groups by 2 to come up with MOA numbers.
