OK...I've been using knowledge from others on this site and I have Lee 1 oz slug loads I like as well as 9 pellet buckshot loads in shot cups using the Lee .312 ball mold. I have an old but good Remington Slugger with the 18.5" barrel and an 1100 with a 20" tube. Does anyone know what length of magazine extension tube will work with these without extending past the end of the barrels? Any opinions on the most reliable brand to buy? Any advice will be appreciated. GF

I've limited experience here, but within that, here are my observations: The +2 rond is what's found on factory 870 guns. I have a +3 Choate that I put on an 1100 and it extended past the muzzle slighty, but posed no problems. It's laying idle with extra spring, so if you're interested in it, let me know. It was made around 1995 and looks new.

I know for the 18" bbl a +2 rd would bring it short of the muzzle. My 870 Police I got from the SAPD had the +3 ext and it extended past the 18" bbl. The +3 would work even with a 20" bbl.

No idea of the brand but purchased through tanks rifle shop a while back. It adds 3 2 3/4" shell capacity and just a tad past my slug barrel on my 870. I think its a 18" barrel?

if you need more than 5 you need to use it as club

My 20" Mossy defender takes 7+1 and if I use my 2" shells I can get 10+1. Makes for a great combat course gun with the speedloaders.

My remington 1100 tactical came with a 20 inch-ish barrel and the extended mag tube, which I think is a plus 4. So it holds a total of 8+1.

That mag tube is flush or even with the barrel.

My other 1100 has some unknown length barrel, but I made the mustake of buying a +5 extension for it.

When I stick that on the 1100 tactical, it sticks out past muzzle.

The guys at Nordic Components should be able to help you.
