A friend gave me 2 boxes of Russian 7.62x54R ammo the other day. I was shooting some of it today and it shot very well through my M39. less than 1" groups at 50 yds(my max distance at my little home range here). It looks like decent brass. Berdan primed, but I picked up some berdan primers from Grafs a little while back so I will try to reload these.

Does anyone recognize this stuff? Is it some commercial ammo or something? All the info I have been able to find lists the only brass cased stuff as Albanian, and this is clearly soviet ammo to me. Headstamo is 188 and 71. Bottom of the box is dated 1971. Shoots good, I hope I can get some more.

I think that might be russian match ammo. I believe the stuff comes in two different colored boxes, blue or yellow. Check out gunboards ammo section as I believe this was discussed there recently. Supposed to be way more accurate than the usual run of the mill stuff. Frank

I found the factory if that helps.
