Saw jap 7.7 with re blue sporter stock.Lyman peep commercial front sight and a side mount scope base.Price $99 Worth it?

I've killed a few deer with a 7.7 Jap. From what I've heard, as long as it wasn't one of the training / drill rifles produced at the end of the war, it's a really strong action. Mine was a sporterized one that was handed down to me by my father who brought it back from WWII. Unfortunately, mine "disappeared" in one of my moves around 1979. :(

If the 'Lyman peep' is a milled-steel #48 (or, even, a #57), rear sight alone is worth most of the $99 asking price.

I know a guy that has a couple.

One 7.7 has a barrel tight enough to use 0.308" bullets in.

The other one he as never figure out the chambering and though he keeps threatening to do a chamber cast, has NOT done so yet.
