View Full Version : Is this the way the bottom of a Lyman 450 should look?

I bought my Lyman 450 from another caster and the peened-over shaft-end in the middle of the black disk protrudes below the base about a sixteenth of an inch and thus won't sit level on the bench without being tightly bolted down:

It's never been a problem for me but since I ordered a Star I'll probably be selling the Lyman soon and don't want to be selling something that's not right.

It looks like the pressure screw isn't OEM. It should be flush with the pressed / staked-in seal plug. (At least it is on my 1978 version of the 450) You should be able to remove the pressure screw out the bottom; then you could possibly grind it down to be flush?
