Im trying to work up a lighter load for my 450 marlin bfr. I'm using a 405 grain fp and 15 grains of Trailboss for 1000 fps. It's pleasant to shoot and accurate, problem is it hits about 8 inches high at 50 yards with the rear sight adjusted all the way down. I need a taller front sight but after a quick google search I came up with nothing. Does anyone know where I can get a taller front sight made? I will probably call Hamilton Bowen if nobody makes a taller replacement.

Do you have the tallest front sight Magnum Research makes for the BFR? If not order one. that is what I did.

The tallest BFR makes probably won't be enough for that load. FWIW, the sight 2 dogs has is about 50x better and classier than the aluminum thing that comes on a BFR.

Mine at the time was maybe 16 dollars. Mine made my gun shoot so low I had to take some off of it. Classy or not that price sounds a whole lot better than something a lot more expensive.

2 Dogs, that is freakin' cool. Do you blacken it, or is it not bothersome with glare?

That is a great sight and is easy to blue if just steel. I would not blue until filed anyway.
Make sure you file the front a little lower then the rear for a crisp picture.
The best blue I have found is Oxpho-Blue.

Matthew, this front sight is a precision steel replacement part for the BFR and Single Six. The barrel contour cutters are specially ground to match the barrel contours. We can thin them a bit if you like or make them a bit wider. They are designed to look as handsome and purposeful as possible around the screw that holds them on the barrel. They can be serrated, have bars installed, have a bead installed, or any some such prior to finishing. They are intentionally left tall so the end user can file them so that the rear sight is where they want it for the chosen loads. These sights are cut one at a time on a new milling machine and are within .0005" of center. They are easily blued once they are adjusted for height.

I commend you with such fine work.

I've bought three of 2 Dogs' front sights and am thoroughly impressed. They screw right on, are extremely well milled, and the sight pattern is really crisp.

My 475 BFR got one and it's a huge improvement over the factory aluminum:

I have a 500 JRH BFR coming this week and it'll get two modifications before I even drop the hammer on a live round: 1) The front sight is getting tossed for one of the blades pictured above, and 2) The backstrap is going to Jack Huntington for an extension and upgrade to high figure walnut.
