I have been shooting silhouette for about 15 years. I had just started when the kids came along and I stopped shooting centerfire. I got divorced last year and believe it or not, it freed up a lot of time and money. I started shooting bigbore again and managed to make it into Unlimited-AAA this weekend. I was shooting an xp-100 in 7br. Missed 3 chickens at 50 meters and had to go clean the rest of the match to make it. Topped it off with 5 shoot off chickens at 200 meters . Now, production was a different story as forearmed can attest. Internationals are next week in OKC and I plan on spending a day there.

Congrats Mark! "Back in the day" I was an IHMSA match Director for many years. I saw many "leg-up"s as you call it , but I never saw one done that way. Usually it was folks who finally mastered the turkey's or the rams that moved them on up. Were the 3 chickens you missed due to sight settings? Been there done that!

Shuz, I am not sure what the misses were from. I did not take my sighters and it might have just been lack of concentration. Probably a case of cranial-rectal inversion. I am pretty sure most of the production problems are primer related. Will be switching back to Remington 7 1/2's in the 7tcu

That's a tough way to play "catch up"! Congratulations!

I am usually too cheap to take sighters. Every once in a while I get pecked by that first chicken fired at out of a clean barrel. Takes a lot of the urgency out of the next 39 shots when you miss that first one. Good luck at OKC, Mark.

You're on a roll, Mark! You'll take a sighter or two in OKC, right?

I never went to a shoot where we could take sighters. [smilie=b:
The first chicken miss was always a clean barrel. I lived in a town and had to drive miles just to foul a gun and always hoped for a shot or so at the shoot but it never happened. As soon as the range was opened, the line was full.

Good shootin', I miss my 7 BR Xp, It too had to have a fouling shot to shoot well. Never shot competition but splattered a lot of prairie dogs out to 300 yds.
