I wasted a lot of time reading the sticky about the Enfield and decided it was long on BS and short on pictures. So, in that frame of mind, here are a couple of pictures from the WW I Museum in Kansas City. Interestingly enough I couldn't find any pics I might have taken of any Enfield rifles. It is well worth a visit for anyone who is going to be in the Kansas City area.

The main reason those U S copies of the Renault never saw combat anywhere during or after WW1 was that the armor was no good at all. In tests even standard ball rounds walked right through it.
The tanks were only useful for training, some were sold off as surplus and all but a very few remaining examples were melted down during the early days of the scrap drive of WW2.
The Smithsonian Museum donated almost all its large collection of WW1 vehicles to that scrap drive, including a number of these tanks.

Thank you! Very cool. I get to KC occasionally. I'll have to look this place up.
Seeing that BAR still reminds me of the one Sons of Guns chopped up on their show. That still frosts me.

The tank in the pic was actually knocked out by German artillery fire. The left rear quarter has a huge hole in it from when the tank was knocked out of commission. Also, I was very surprised to see that the front drive wheel spokes are WOODEN.

The WWI museum is simply amazing.

On your recommendation I took a drive to KC this morning and just got back home. That's a great museum! Well worth a few hundred miles round trip. I will second this, if you're in the area make a point in going here. It's 14 bucks for an adult, there's not a single museum in Branson close to this and they're twice the price. First time I seen a 13mm antitank rifle in the flesh. Many, many other exhibits too many to mention.
