I have an interesting SAECO mold that I bought on ebay. the problem is the sprue plate screw walks open as I cast and soon I am growing a wide spot at he bullet base. did these moulds have some kind of spring washer or such to keep the tension the same as it is worked open and closed. My lyman and lee molds have no such problem. Advice? Thanks in advance, JB

...............Drill and tap in from the side for a 8-32 setscrew to bear against the sprueplate screw.

Saeco does have a provision to keep the screw tight. I think you need to look at the end of the block for a set screw as I haven't used mine in a long time and don't have it handy.

Buckshot: Most of my Lee moulds have been D&T with a 10x32 set screws. Same size as lyman. I also D&T Lee die locking nuts. Lee's fit our coax presses. Some don't. Not impressed with that 0-ring. ben1025

My saeco moulds have a set screw, which keeps the sprue screw from loosening, like 45 2.1 post says. If not, a drill and tap set is only $5. Takes less than 10 minutes. ben1025

Just to confirm what others have already said...my Saeco moulds have set screws to hold the spue screw in place. They also have a washer on the spue screw.

The set screw takes a 3/32 allen wrench.
