I am refinishing an older lyman ST press and have hit a snag. Does anyone know how to get the smaller linkage pin in the triangular block in the linkage out. The other pins just pushed out but I have been trying to tap this one out with a punch and have tried heating etc with no results.

Any help or if anyone has a manual for the ST it would be appreciated.

Hi,
Well,to me it looks like it should punch out, like you said. I have a 30ton shop press and if it is a press fit that would take care of it! I just don't see why they would do a press fit on that?

That would be MY next step as by now I would see it as a challenge, although if it works ok you could just leave it and work around it. I have done that before when I decided I might do more harm than good sometimes!

got it out. 15 minutes in the sonicator with liquid wrench and heated over the stove half dozen wacks with a 5 pound sledge.

I wish I had room for a press like that. But it would not go with decor in my tiny one bedroom apartment.

Hi,
Good deal! Yea, a 30 ton press takes up a lot of room until you need it, but then nothing else will do!!! Glad a BFH fixed yours!

A BFH usually will fix it (whatever "it" may be). If the first one doesn't work, get a bigger one. :kidding:
