I picked up a new (too me) Norinco 98 in great shape.Rifle sighted smoothbore $165.00

I then added an ATI adjustable pistol grip stock.

At some point in its life the barrel was threaded to take mossberg chokes as it had a rifled choke tube installed.

Has anyone shot buckshot loads from a rifled choke tube before?
I was thinking it might help open the pattern under 25 yrds.

Hello NSP, when shooting buckshots you do not want the rifled choke on, as that will give you a donut shaped pattern and open up the pattern!
The rifled choke will come in handy when firing slugs or sabots at a longer range to 20 to 60 yards!

I have read that it will cause the patern to open up.
I also know that a buckshot load up close, can look like a nice 100 yrd rifle group.
I was thinking if the buckshot load would open up to 12" at 20 ft, then it might make a good HD load.
I was reading the loooong thread on bird V. buck for home defense.
