Good to have you Daveefish! Quite a few Enfield shooter's on the board. I love the .303. I could never have got mine to shoot right without this boards knowledge and advice. A lot of help here.

Welcome aboard, and (like you) I need a wide-bodied 31 caliber to keep the boolits from rattling downbore in my 1/III--a 1918 BSA, and a .316" groove. NuJudge ran a Lee custom boolit of this description some months back, for which I am most thankful.

In my experience, boolits much over .314" will require a larger neck expander and greater neck clearance in a seater die than what is offered by the RCBS 303 British die set. Just so ya know.

daveefish, welcome. While you can buy commercial boolits, its so fun to cast them that I would just start doing it. Its not hard and a heck of a lot cheeper

dan said he has these... 200 gr Lyman 314299 sized to .314 think i'll start there. here is my crisis as a rank beginner----- i read the posts that basically say every old enfield will shoot differently and try 47 different boolit/powder combinations until something works. so if you buy a bunch of different molds or 100 each of a bunch of different boolits then i rapidly empty the boolit treasury. wouldn't a "sampler" of say, 40 each of 5 different boolits be cool? dave

Uuuuuuuh? Wouldn't that be too simple? I'm trying to find the fun in that. I know you're new and all, but honestly there's a right way, and then there's that way you're talking about .
