Have a Mannlicher-Schoenauer 1908 coming and can use advice about loading the 8X56 Mannlicher. I am hoping to get brass from Horneber if possible and affordable. Have not slugged the barrel yet. Have the dies.

Thanks in advance.

Years ago, when I couldn't find anything in the way of published data with cast bullets for the 8x56 MS, I went with some old advice rating that cartridge as "about equal to the 35 Rem" So, started at 15 gr Hercules 2400, and worked up to 18 gr.with the Saeco nominal 190 gr (194 from my mould).Still not max.(by Eyeball) but cleaner burning at 18 gr.. While there is nothing about cast bullets there, Ken Waters did a goodly writing on this cartdige in "Pet Loads"(pg.593 in my 8th Ed.) Worth looking into, especially if you choose to load "on up" with a slower burning powder..Enjoy, Onceabull
