I'll be using these in my .44' handguns, and one rifle. 1,000 fps in the handgun, 1250 in the rifle.

I don't quite understand everything I need to know about alloys that let the bullet mushroom, but have the ductility to stay together.

I'll be buying the alloy from Rotometals.

What do I need? 40:1, 30:1. 25:1, 20:1, 16:1

Will the alloys with higher tin contents *tin* my barrel?

Thanks for any help.

Elmer Keith used the 16:1 lead/tin alloy for solids. Most BP shooters like the 20:1. I would go with the 25:1 myself if its a HP. At any of those tin contents, you will have no problems. When you get to 10% (10:1) or over tin content, then you will start having problems.
