perfection on brass

brass punch thru die

9 mm brass; Perfection..

i bought a custom "makarov" 9mm crimp die today to go in my lee buldge buster kit. (take crimp (guts) out of makarov die and screw into single stage press, brass goes thru totally into a LEE cup on top of single stage press. *A vertical punch goes in shell holder and pushes the 9mm brass all the way thru so there is no buldge. And ofcourse with 40 cal die you can do same thing..

yea, ran another 100 thru DB-9, mixed bullets, setting here now loading buddys stuff again. Just think, i have a whole 6 cav mold set @124grn (&LEE-sizerlube kit too!) round nose. I love round nose. feeds better. I wish .355 would go thru barrel but those loading guys say .356 for lead. .355 makes a beautiful round especially if ya crimp it. I crimp all my 380's.

With 9mm swaged thru die punch (LEE buldge buster kit) ,,its great brass.

-------------------------------------
i have been crimping 380 copper plated for months. I just crimped some copper plated 9's, and the 9's with lead bullets (lead in brass crimped tighter) which really did a nice job. really nice!

*Size with fill length size die is not full length ... To me full length sizing is all the way thru and out the top.

So i am glad i bought full length buldge buster kit (LEE) which sizes whole piece of brass top to bottom. Now what i just learned ,(crimping added a plus to the push thru size die w/punch) about the 9mm's brass is it will have a chance to run perfect. When i size with what we think is full sizing die we will never have a chance to have perfect round because *(without thru punch) when i sized 9mm's, they all feel different at bottom of lever..With thru punch *from LEE, brass will all be true cause all brass pops out the top in LEE cup provided.

I'm confused.

Are you trying to remove bulges from 9mm luger brass ? which is taper walled and not straight walled,
I didn't think you could do that.

Then you mention Makarov which is 9x18 and is straight wall case but uses larger bullets typically .365

then you mention DB-9,
I thought they were only available in 9mm Luger and .380
are they available in 9x18 ?

But then you mention bullets size .355 and .356

and even more confusing to me
you say, "crimping added a plus to the push thru size die w/punch"
what are you crimping ?

Please don't take this like I'm ripping on you,
I honestly don't understand what your saying,
and I'd kind of like to know what your saying.

What I think he's saying is:
He bought a custom Lee Bulge Buster kit for 9mm Luger. It's a special order. Lee uses a 9mm Makarov FCD and removes some of the guts so that it will work for 9mm Luger.

...aaaaaand he says it works.

I've heard of this approach and it is supposed to work. As far as the db9, I checked one out at the lgs the other day and it was a neat little gun. I read some about it on the manufacturer's own forum (diamondback arms) and there seemed to be a lot of problems. Kind of scared me off the gun.
