I was going to say something about the problems involved over in GB obtaining any sort of weapon, but then noticed how you left the Yorkshire, and England without capitalization by your name. Is that a dig for where your living?

Hi Guys,

no problems in england on getting guns, just we cannot carry one all the time, just limited to can carry in cases/bags to the range etc.

Our laws are strict, but if you have armed forces service it does help, boy i have my own gun room and enjoy shooting and reloading every type of gun i have.

I think they should change our laws too, if you have served your country you should be allowed to have automatic weapons.

I will update my advatar

Melter,

That's not an M-48, it's a Kar-98. As in left behind by the Wehrmacht when they left Yugoslavia, and were rebuilt by the Yugo government in the late '40's.

Yep he's right. yugo handguards come all the way to the receiver, so looks like you got a good deal. Frank

And went further foreward. Also, the bolt disassembley "washer" on the buttstock, and the cut-out under the bolt knob above the trigger guard.

The bottom of the bolt knobs tend to be flattened, and checkered on M-48's as well. M-48's are on the "intermediate" large ring Mauser action, as opposed to the standard length military large ring action.

The M48 and K98 both shoot the 7.92x57mm cartridge, known as the 8x57 in the States. Either one, it'll be a great shooter. If you ever to decide to restock it be sure to get it right, M48 vs. K98 as the trigger guard on the K98 is longer (the guard screws are on the "outside" of the trigger guard, while the guard screws on the M48 are on the "inside" ... that is, it is closer to the trigger).
