Boiled the old lube out of 450 using my Harbor Fr. brush burner to heat a 5 qt. pickle can of water..... Replaced the pressure screw and reassembled with Lars 2500 lube. Now I can't seem to get it to lube my Lee 401, dia. , 175 gr. FP that worked ok before ......despite all my adjusting to no avail. Been getting lube under boolit, none where it belongs. :groner::groner:afish4570
Turn the adjusting screw down in increments till the boolit enters the die deep enough to allow lube to go into the grooves. Play with, you'll get there.

Start with the boolit high & adjust down, maybe reduce lube pressure a bit or reduce heat to kooler setting .
Sometimes all it takes is 1/16 of a turn of the stop bolt !

When you start with a truly clean machine you have to pressure lots of lube into it to get going again.

+1 Might as much as 1/3 of a lube stick.

When checking my loading notes on what top punch I have been using I casually glanced at it......I grabbed RCBS # 595.....punch was too large to fit into die and allow me to adjust bullet deep enough to be lubed. After reviewing my notebook and following everyones suggestion I used the 565 punch that I had been using in the past...Problem solved. Probably should spend the $$ for the Lyman #43 that is the correct size. The 565 fits ok and I have been using it for quite awhile on my 40 cal. 175 FP Lee mold afish4570:cbpour::cbpour:
