310 bp compression die

I want to load some 38 Long Colt cartridges with blackpowder and hollow base bullets. I notice that Rick at the 310 Shop sells a special bp compression die. Is it better to use that than relying on a hollow base bullet for compression?

That or another method. Hollow base bullets tend to be pure or very close and not useful to compress adequately without distortion.

I compress BP with an arbor press and a plug of corian that I turned to size on my wood lathe.
