This 30 dollar graduated and fully adjustable aperture sight has proved out so well for quickly and accurately getting on target, and hitting it. The scout scope has now become a backup for the aperture sight.

I basically did the same setup for a T99 Arisaka about 10 years ago. I did have to take the aperture out for easier sight acquisition but she's a sweet scout rifle now.

Same here, I removed the disc and the larger opening in dead on for the sighting radius.
Am amazed how fast target acquisition is with both eyes open, just keep looking at target and sights come up and on dead center.

What brand is it?

It is a Mendoza and mounted on MN rear sight 12mm dovetail.

At Pramyd Air they have a Williams that is similar for 30 bucks also, but it does not appear as rugged as the Mendoza.

I'm confused. It mounted inside the rifle's dovetail? Mine has a crossways hole for a pin, not a dovetail.

Unfortunately that Mendoza aperture sight has been discontinued by the manufacturer. :-(

No, it is mounted on the 12mm dovetail the original MN rear sight was, before it was removed. Not all M38 and M44 have the dovetail, (some do, some don't) but know the M91/30 does.

the Mendoza is for 3/8" or 11 mm dovetail, but fits just fine on the 12mm.

Here is the MN 12mm dovetail once rear sight was removed.

Thats what they said when I went to buy mine, but wasn't true. I had to wait a couple months before they got another shipment in.

Just checked, they have one of them for sale at Amazon for $31.61.

Well, I'll just be da$#ed. I never saw a rear sight mount like that on a M-N. It would make a solid scope or peep sight mount.

It is also great for mounting a scout scope with a dovetail to weaver mount.

Thanks for the heads-up, I just placed an order for two. I've recently been hitting all the online sale websites incl. Amazon with no luck. This may have been a recent re-stock, I hope the seller is on the up-and-up (& this isn't an error). Thanks again,

If don't like the idea of a aperture, can get the Mendoza micrometer sight for around $20.00
