All of my BFR revolvers. Hundreds of less then 1" at 100 yards.
The S&W 29's were super but grip sensitive.
The SRH, with a scope I could hit beer cans at 200 yards.
Next is the SBH, consistent but never as good as the SRH.

I had a S&W M27 with 8 3/8" bbl back in the early '90's that I shot 100 rounds of 38spl through at 7 yards off hand. You could cover the group with a half dollar. For me that was darn accurate.

Hi...

I have a couple of particulary accurate revolvers. I think the most accurate is a S&W 686 Silhouette Model in .357Mag with an 8-3/8" barrel.

http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/yy305/375supermag/100_0731.jpg

When I do my part, I can pretty much hit whatever I want out to 200 yds, depending on the load I am shooting and the front sight setting. I can consistently hit the 10" gong at 200yds. with a relatively hot load using the Hornady 180gr.HP/XTP off of the bench using the correct front sight setting.

I also have a Dan Wesson .44Mag that is quite accurate. But it is heavy to carry around.

http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/yy305/375supermag/100_0742.jpg

I also have a S&W M57 in .41Mag that shoots great...

http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/yy305/375supermag/100_0744.jpg
my son, who has much younger eyes than I, likes to show off at the gun club by shooting empty 20ga. hulls off the target frame at 25yds. He seldom misses one...I can hit them occassionally with the .41Mag, but I need to use the silhouette model in .357Mag to hit them consistently.
I have watched people shoot entire magazines out of high-capacity autoloaders and never hit a single shotgun hull at 25yds., but then I have seen the same people miss a man-sized silhouette at 7yds.

Smith 586 8 3/8. 158Gr
Lee TL SWC tumbled in 45/45/10, sized .358 over 6gr of unique and a SPP in any 357 brass.

I've had this pistol for 16 years (Just realized that for half my life I've been toting this gun) and it was well WELL used when I got it from my cousin.

My new (to me) redhawk 41 mag may very well surpass this with some more range time to verify.

I suppose neither of those would be right, My most accurate pistol is actually a 6PPC Encore, but that's with a 16x rifle scope and is never shot except for from the bench. I wouldn't call it a "pistol". The 6ppc drops em in under .5" at 100 and has rung the steel from 200-500 yards at the range.

Good morning
Still to date is my 1982 purchased Dan Wesson 41 mag 220 grain with the 8" barrel.
Running a real close second is a BFR 454 Casull with a 275 grainer. That revolver may soon pass the DW if I keep tweeking the load. Sure is fun shooting with very accurate and well built strong revolvers.

Honestly can't say which is more accurate, both are 586's and are capable of 1.5" @ 50 yds. They're old PPC match guns, funny-looking one is what we called an "open" gun. Other is a "stock" gun.

5" S&W 625 in .45 ACP. Just about any safe load shoots great. Couple of years ago I went to range with a two students. Both had autoloaders, one in 9mm, one in .40. They put up a target stand at about 15 yards and put some 1" orange dots on the cardboard. I let them shoot first and although they shot pretty good they didn't hit their dots. I pushed the dot through the cardboard with the first shot. I will admit was shear luck, but it helped to have a gun that puts them where you point it every time. And this big rascal does that.

Actually the blued revolver is the 586. The stainless steel revolver is the 686. These are the Distinguished Combat Revolvers in .357 Magnum.

There was one recall notice early in production for a defect around the cylinder alignment and advancement for this model. The only problem I had with mine was the screw that held the strap/spring of the rear sight down kept working it's way out. A piece of nylon thread in the screw threads fixed that issue right quick.

Smith Model 10, with a heavy 3" barrel. That thing will put every round through "1 ragged hole"....if I could shoot that well. (I found this out using a clamp- in shooting rest). 3.7 grains of Bullseye, under an ordinary 158 grain LSWC does it.

The best I can do, hand held, is roughly 2" at 10 yards or so.....and not every day at that. But, the gun will do MUCH better. Freaky for a short-barreled gun.....but I guess I got a good one.

K frame S&W in 38 Special.

I’ve four S&W revolvers in 38 Special. Two model 10’s and two model 15’s. This M-15 is the prettiest. I think any of them is capable of one hole groups at fifty feet. Since they all have different grip panels they are hard to compare. Honesty I’ve not even fired the M15 pictured above. It’s an early 1950’s with barley a mark on it. Have in mind to gift it to one of my daughters.

10’s are from Buds gun shop recently for $269. Probably more than you might pay for beat up M-10’s locally but they are hard to find and I hate shopping. Even for guns. For photos of the 10’s look in my album here for the before pics. Little bit of polishing with 0000 steel wool and Ed’s Red then a few coats of Oxpho-blue from Brownells and they look quite well. Inside they looked new. The square but got a set of rubber grips as well.

Either the DW .44 I recently traded off, or the DW .41 I had almost 20 years ago. Both were very accurate, and just as importantly, consistent. Unfortunately, they were both too big and awkward to haul around on my belt. I think the most accurate revolver I have now is probably a 7 1/2" Ruger Blackhawk.

Of course. I never had one that was not accurate. Only that for me they were sensitive to grip hold and small groups would shift POI.
I love the S&W guns but hold was the only reason they did not do well at IHMSA. Most would shoot 1/2" groups at 50 meters.
I consider them fine guns.

Guess I don't really understand the grip sensitive thing. Are not all handguns this way. Why would one brand be any different than the other, especially when a Smith usually has a superior action. Not trying to start an argument just trying to understand.

Each is to a certain extent and I think it was my large hands that made my 29's do it. I should have bought other grips for them.
It took me a long time to figure out why I could move a very tight group to another POI just by laying the gun down and picking it back up.
The strange thing about the 29's is if I shot two handed, off hand, there was less problems but from Creedmore I got screwed up.
Every grip has quirks with different people.
Now I had a 27 long ago and there was nothing I could do to make it shoot different, it always hit perfect.
The grips I shoot best have always been the hog leg or a 1911 type grip.
It really is based on each persons hands.
I have a friend with fat, small hands, short fat fingers and I have to laugh a little when he shoots. It is hard for him to reach a trigger. His finger has to be tight on the side of the gun and he always pulls left. He would do much better with a S&W.
I had the same problems with some bow handles. I had one that I rubbed cocoa butter in my hand at every target! [smilie=l: The only way it would slip to the same place.

I see. Thanks
You are welcome.
It is why I never recommend a grip until a man tries them long enough to make a decision. It is great to have friends with different guns. What you find might be 100% different from another.
I will never push a grip and only tell what I have trouble with. That is so important to make you understand that you must find what is best for you.
The Bisley is one. I have trouble with it but others love it. I do not dispute, I only say to test it first. I get bashed over the Bisley and that is wrong because I state my problem and tell you to find your grip, it might just be the Bisley but I will never push ANY grip.
My grip choices have made enemies because they do not see what I say, you are the determination, NOT ME or anyone else. Beware of someone that pushes a Bisley on you, it might not be what you need. I will never push the hog leg on you either.

I'm not a paper puncher but I have several revolvers that will do around 5-6/10" @ 25 yards such as a Ruger 22 Mag, a S&W 17, 41 and 629. My smallest group recently was with a Ruger New Model Blackhawk in 44 Special. 3 shots @ 25 yards measured .26" using 200 grain XTPs with Power Pistol @ 1130 fps.

However, back in the day, my 6-inch Python ruled the roost and was my go-to gun when I was shooting competitions regularly. Even won a couple with it.

Mine is a 7.5" Cimarron/Uberti SAA colt replica in 45 Colt. I also have a Uberti 5.5" barrel and a 4.5" barreled ASM which is all the revolvers I currently own. Now the 4.5" is the next most accurate and not by much either. Both of them are extremely accurate, however the 5.5 Uberti Cattleman I couldn't hit the inside of a barn standing in it. I really need to get the front sight cut down and will when I get time as it shoot consistantly 2" to 3" low. The other two hit what I aim at period.

1/2" at fifty? what are you using for a load bullet and powder? GD

The S&W 624 6.5" will do that also. Lyman 429383 cast out of WW or softer sized 0.431" in front of 4.0 gr. Bullseye...... crimped lightly with Rem. LP primer. While its an accurate handgun, it is not the most accurate i've shot and loaded for.

My most accurate is probably my S&W factory single action conversion model 16-4

Mine is the Ruger Old Army. One raged hole at 20 paces. Wow, do I love to shoot this thing.

Yes, every model 29 I owned would do that, my 27 was even better. The SRH can do it as can the BFR's. Even shot a friends Taurus .44 that was accurate.
So many good guns no matter who makes them. But they are still like a .22 with all kinds of ammo. Some .22 ammo is garbage and the gun will not shoot good.
You need to feed your gun what it likes.
It is like this. These are .475 sighters at 50 yards for deer hunting. 5 shot groups. It is because your loading bench and thinking will make most guns shoot. If you pound out a million rounds on a Dillon you might keep a Kamikaze from hitting your ship if you fill the sky with lead.
Big bores are never shot less then 50 yards around here. Yes, we go to 500 meters (547 yards) and farther.
You can do it, it is not your gun in most cases although one can be bad no matter who made it.

Best; My OM SBH with 6.5 gr Clays behind a 250 Keith @ 50 yds. (slow, but sure).

Worst; My .25 auto Bernardelli. I can graze Coke cans @ 100, but just can't seem to get a solid hit. ;-) (don't believe everything you read on the internet).
