My hand starts slipping off the plastic corncob forend when shooting clays in 90 degree weather, specially when the barrel gets hot. Putting the forend over a dowel and taking a parting tool to it solved the problem completely. The squared existing groves and additional groves at the receiver end now provide guaranteed grip. Challenge is that cheap made in China forend is off center.

Did you cut the groves under power or did you rotate the grip by hand? On some simple cuts in plastic like this I have been turning my lathe over by hand and getting good results.

under power at about 500 rpm.
