View Full Version : Richards Colt conv .44 1860 Army

Isn't very often I get to handle something this old or this cool..

As the m/1860 Colt Army model this one was made after the Civil War. Production ended at 200500 in 1873. Flayderman says this one fits the higher s/n range 191xxx mfg 1873-78 with 9,000 done. Has .44 on the triggerguard on the left side.

I live in a NorCal gold mining town founded in 1850. We are not far south of the Oregon border. This ol' boy is pretty typical for what the miners would carry.

No maker marks on the holster. ~Custom~ made. It is machine stitched and double stitched along the edge. It seems like it was modified from another incarnation. The back leather was stitched onto the front part. The front part has a couple holes where it was riveted/? before it was modified. There are two crude belt slots cut by knife.. you can see only one of them in the photo.

This one was the traveling companion.. .32-20 Gen2 SAA. Rode hard, put up wet.

Wow !! nice bit of history there thanks much for posting I don't think I've ever seen a Richards conversion . How does the loading gate work ?
