k98 rear sight

i have a k98(junk) that i want to change the rear sight ladder out to put in a leatherwood aftermarket rail so i can set up in scout style.

i knocked the pin out (looks like a decapping pin) but, cant let the ladder out.
what the heck am i doing wrong?
the spring under the ladder is depressed, it rotates but wont slip out.

push down on front of the leaf,while holding it down push toward reciever, should pop out.

I think they made it a little tricky in order to foil the attempts of rookies to mess with them. I can see it now- "What the devil did you idiots do with your rifle sights? There's 2,000 Ivans about to jump on us and Fritz with the Spandau can't handle all of them!"
