Two police trade in S&W M10-10s, 38 Special, and 4” heavy barrels. Both have seen a lot of holster use but not much range time. I think a set of new grips and re-bluing would do them some good.

Anyone happen to know if the M10s are +p rated? If not that is fine, just curious.

I would think that a later-series model like a "-10" would be +P-capable. The examples appear to be post-1980 (barrels not pinned), and a 3-letter/4-numeral serial number would confirm that.

+1 on +P. Add a Tyler T Grip to each and shoot them as they are. You will never recoup the cost of rebluing and will degrade what you do have; two fine six shooters.

S&W said that if the model number was stamped on the frame where the crane mates up to the frame that the revolvers are rated for +P.

I agree that twins are always nice.

I had to take my turn with the stripper this evening.

Unfortunately the stripper came in a can, burned like Hades on my skin and only worked on cabinet doors.

Well, that is as close as I will get to having fun.

Starting to agree that the worn finish does have character.

Anyone have a Double holster set up they could recommend?

When we used the model 10 we used +P in it. This was for 2" and 4" standard barrel. We Didn't fire a lot of it through the guns, maybe 25 rounds each time we qualified so we knew what to expect. These were guns produced in the 60's and 70's

Those look familiar.

One with the rubber grip is a round butt and of newer manufacture than the pinned barrel square grip. The older sqaure but does have it's serial number stamped on the frame. Have polished and touched up the bluing with Bronnells Oxpho-Blue. They look great now. Not concerned with collectibles value on these working guns. They both shoot great and look brand new inside. From what I heard someplace these are Australian police turn ins. From the bar code stamp it would appear they tuned them into there armory at end of shift. My square but showed a serious lack of love. But it cleaned up fine and a set of new rubber grips really brought it to life. Either gun will make one big hole with wad cutter loads at fifty feet. In a better hand than mine they may even make a small six shot hole.

I'ts hard to imagine a more fun hand gun than K frame Smiths.

Here is the first target with a ten shot group, five shots from each gun.

155gr boolit with 8.0gr of 2400, 15yards 2hands.

Some of these old police cast offs are incredible. I have a model 10 2" that has the smoothest trigger of any gun I own. Even at 25 yds if I do my part (which is hard now-a-days) I can print everything in the black on a standard size single target.
