I was thinking of getting a BACO mould in .45 cal. in the creedmore design. I mostly shoot various makers of Postel design of 530 to540 weight I was wondering if anyone has tried the 510 gr. creedmore in your BPCR rifles and how it stacks up against the heavier bullet. Thanks

I think it would be a good bullet in the 45-70.
Have been using the Saeco 645 bullet in the wifes Winchester bpcr with good results to 1000 yds.

take a look at the moulds that accurate mould offer...another good one is old west moulds. altho i can say nothing bad about my baco slick mould...it wants to slip the boolit out without even opening the mould...air vacume is all that holds it in making it nessesary to open them...great moulds!!!

I'm partial to the BACO moulds myself in my .45 and .50. Good quality and cast a perfect boolit right away.

I have it. My Shiloh will shoot it but my CPA with a Badger barrel will not. I haven't figured out why yet.

It casts nice bullet. They are pretty round, within .0005 ( I have a tri-anvil micrometer that allows you to measure roundness). The parting line is faint, simply a line. Barely able to feel it with a finger nail gently pulled across. You cannot feel it with a finger tip.

They drop from the mould reasonably. Occassionally mine will need a couple taps to get the bullet out. I use an old wood hammer handle and tap the handles not smack the handles.

With that said, I am ordering a 540 gr Creedmore from Paul Jones this week. The PJ 45001. I really like that bullet and have had excellent results with it in all my 45's up to and including a 110.

45-70 doesn't have enough juice to reliably shoot those heavy bullets much past 500 yds. Much better off to go with something in the 500 grs or a bit less in the 2.1 inch case.
