Me, personally? Maybe $200. It's a single-action. For that much money, you can get a used GP100, Redhawk, or Super Redhawk--depending on caliber--for that or less. As an example, I regularly see GP's for sale for the $400's, Redhawks for $500, and SRH's in the $600's, even on overpriced Gunbroker.

Nothing against single-actions, but unless it's a specialty item like a .475 Linebaugh, etc., why would anyone pay $700 for one when DA's are even less?

That is way too much. I know of a really nice 80-85% original Flat Top .44 Magnum with an $800 price tag I would buy long before I would spend that type of cash on a Super. I would think $500 would be as far as I would go. They are not overly rare, and I see them in excellent condition alot for much less. About a year ago I saw one similar to the one you are describing, nearly the same condition for $425. Walk away.

I guess its all a matter of taste double actions just don't do it for me
although I have some very nice ones
my eye a single turns my head quicker
200.oo won't buy much of a gun maybe a 22 cal

Well they don't make them anymore do they? If you don't have a 3-screw and you have the $ I think you should do it. But I do think a number closer to $600 is better.

Have you looked at the GunLibrary at Cabelas.com? There are a few for sale on that site.

I don't think I could handle the squared trigger guard and I'm not a big fan of rubber grips that fill the gap. But if you're good with those things why not?

Just like anything else, it's a matter of taste sometimes.

I know the Ruger DA's are beefy, the Redhawk especially. But to me the Ruger DA's are Fugly. No offense, if that's what you like, great!

For me, a gun has to look good as well as shoot good.

It's not all about mechanics to some of us. It's art in steel. That's what made me a gun addict.

And those four clicks, AHH! yeah, number three is hard to hear, but it's there.

If that 3 scew is one of THOSE guns you just have to have- go for it. Another one may not come alone for 10 years. You never know.

I agree totally.

However, $100 is sometimes worth it if nothing else is out there for a Primo.

Sounds a little high to me. I had one that I sold a couplea years ago for $600. It had absolutely no wear and may have never been fired. At least there were no marks on the base pin catch slot which usually is some indication of use. I sold it because I'm into stainless steel due to the ease of maintainance. Replaced that S47 with a KS47N and never looked back!

A 1960 4 digit serial number SBH with no box but in very nice shape 95%+ condition was offered to me last Nov for $375. I bought it. Now if I could only find a deal on a 4 5/8" 3 screw 41 I'd be a happy shooter.

Well, do you want a shooter or a collector? If it is primo then it is worth the price to a collector depending on vintage. If you are going to shoot it, they can be had for around $450 to $600. FWIW, they are worth much more than any NM to me. You get a great trigger, recessed case heads, better quality, and better bluing than a New Model.

I picked up this early Super several years back but haven't got around to cutting it to 4 5/8 or shooting it for that matter.

But I am biased, as this OM Super is my favorite SA hands down.

Wow Tek, I'm glad to see that lower picture. That thing looks like a work-horse. That Ruger defines the word "handy."

I'd expect closer to $600 bucks, but I wouldn't let a hundred bucks stand between me and a 3 screw collectible if that was what I was looking for. Likewise, if I was planning on shooting it, I would pass on this one and look for something in the 400ish range.

Great looking shooter Tek.

It depends a lot on it's Serial Number and how old the gun is based on that; and of course condition. I recently sold a 4 digit Super with steel ejector rod housing and Micro rear sight for $700 and if it had it's original box, and thus a "White Box Super", it would have been at least a $1500 gun. A 80 prefix serial numbered gun with no box is a $500 to $550 gun, but with a factory original brass grip frame it jumps to a $1250 gun. The first "cased" Supers start at around $1000 and go up to over $3000 for a "Long Framed" one. Two and three digit guns of any one type are a lot more just because they were the "first" ones of the type. There's lots of overpriced ones out there and occasionally someone will get a really good deal on one, but they're getting fewer and harder to find these days.

Another good thing about the early ones with the small SN is that you can open the window up and it doesn't look quite as bad as later ones with large SN's

I hope that one day this one can grow up into a 480
