Here is my cast .40. Actually .401, I cast this the other day in a LEE 2 cavity mold #401-175-TC. They are cast from Lyman#2 (I mix it myself) and fall at about 170 grains.

This is the best looking bullet I have ever cast. I had to take a moment to brag.

I have several oter LEE molds, and so far I have been pleased. The trick with aluminum, from what I've seen is getting them to the right temperature. Once they get good and warm, things seem to go well.

When I made my first "perfect" cast bullet I picked it up to admire it. Wow!, Hot!:groner:

I had the same luck with that mold, first ones were perfect right out of the mold. (I cleaned and preheated the mold) Man those boolits look and shoot great. I'm waiting to try some that I copper plated the other day, all purty and shiny. Frank

Way too hard for 40SW. Add 75% pure! Put ~ 250 downrange this morning - had to try the new PX4. Youngster on left asked what I was shooting. Then he asked if cast was as good as his J-word. I put up a new target and removed the 10 ring with 50 rnds. He also asked why my gunsmoke smelled like BBQ. He may reload and cast for $7/100. His mom likes to shoot too.

It sure is a pretty boolit!

He also asked why my gunsmoke smelled like BBQ. Why does it smell like BBQ? That's a cool idea.

I am not Lees biggest fan, but I have that boolit in a 6 Cav.
It is one of the best casting moulds I own. I have a lot of moulds from Lees up a few H&Gs. Cast from my generic #2 alloy they cast and shoot like dream in my XDM 40....dale

Lee's 6 cavity is no slouch of a mold. I love mine. It just plain works. The lee 6 cavity is what you call success by superior design!

303Guy - cooking oil lube. Still say the #2 is way harder than needed for 40. I started with 50/50 #2/Pb (~ 2"x2" @ 25 yds) and now cut that with 50% Pb, same (2x mould, wish I'd gotten the 6x) top end HP-38 and it works fine in XDm and PX4. @ 25 yds the pattern was scattered, so was the pattern from 165 plated, so problem was ME. Sizing is a problem that soft. Dropped @ .403, sizer leaves them @ .400. Did some as cast, case sized them to .4005. I'm trying to just bell fired and load as cast now and pulled are .4005-.4001. The undersized still shoot good and no leading.

Wow ... that is Prudy ... looks almost like it was cast from silver.

Good job on the photo also!
