My daughter made this for me for father's day. It's so good I had to share it with everybody. The recipe , I ate all the candy. It sounds strange with saltine cracker's but it works and it's super easy to make.

Cracker Candy aka Saltine Toffee Candy
1 1/2 sleeves saltine crackers
1 1/2 cups real butter ( don't use margarine )
1 1/2 cups light brown surar
12 ozs. semi-sweet ( or milk chocolate ) chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Line a large lipped ( jellyroll ) pan with
alumn. foil, lay crackers out on sheet in one layer, edges close together.
In a medium sauce pan, melt butter and brown sugar together,
bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and pour over the
crackers, cover them all as evenly as possible.
Put the pan into the oven and watch closely. Bake for 4 to 5 minutes or
untill just bubbly.
Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over crackers. when the
chips melt a bit , spread themevenly over the crackers with a knife or spatula
Transfer pan to freezer for 15 to 20 mins. ( or refrigerator for 2 hrs. ) or
untill completely cold. They will form one big sheet, break up into pieces
Store in airtight container.

serves one unless you decide to share.

Thank your daughter for us.[smilie=s:

I shall make one serving today.
All I have is milk and extra dark chocolate but I bet I can pull it off. Or at least something close.

Daniell's Fabulous Cracker Candy

In my computer recipe file.
Printed, and now in my "Special" recipe file.
I may also experiment with adding some nuts.
They help with the, number one most important fact, about cookies and or candy.
More calories make better goodies.:bigsmyl2:

bet it would be good if you added some coco to the recipe too.

Nuts , I forgot to mention the optional nuts, what kind...whatever you like and have on hand. Pecans, walnuts , almonds . we didn't have any Sunday so just made it plain but I think any kind would taste just fine.
As for chocolate ... I can't think of any that would not taste good. Milk , semi-sweet , dark, extra- dark even white would be fine. Let your taste buds be your guide. I bet them toll-house chips would be good too.

Sprinkle the chopped nuts on right after spreading melted chocolate just before you put pan into freezer or refgerator.

Longwood,
Thanks for the title. I'm changing my recipe to read "Daniell's Fabulous Cracker Candy " that sounds great, better than mine. As for calories, calories are a measure of flavor. the more calories the better it tastes.

Go nuts....gary

Almost as bad as discovering you have no primers.

I was in the same fix,,, not enough butter,,, so at zero six thirty this morning, the dogs got to go for a ride.
Better than Candy to them and they don't get to go much in the summer time.

I eyeballed the little bags of almonds, coated with dark chocolate and some other options, to maybe sit in the center of each one.
After Lloyd's idea of Cocoa,,, chocolate sprinkles,,, and a few more, flashed through my brain, I decided to stick with the original recipe this time, and experiment later.

Yeah it sounded strange to me too. But somehow it don't taste strange,
I guess it works like chocolate covered pretezels ...that sounded strange also but it tastes good. Whatever it is works.

You are welcome for the recipe , I have allways believed in passing on good recipe's, people who have thier "secrete " recipes and refuse to give them out are just selfish.
