Well, they've done it. Out lawed Lead Wheel Weights. The DEC has even gone as far as inspecting all garages and telling them to recycle their lead weights. Don't use what you paid for, just get rid of them. I just got a bucket from a garage and at least 10% were steel or Zinc, I usually only get a few of each. Darn

Statewide and I think it went into effect January of this year.

Perfect opportunity to go and offer to buy all of there clean unused lead wheel weights at a scrap price!

They are gonna have to get rid of them all. You casters in NY might as well get them.

yep, the first ingots I made were from mostly unused wheelweights, there were some used ones in the mix too along with the typical valve stems, black tape, and anything else.

Another feel good law. I asked the question....Was there a problem in NY with children sucking on tire rims?

If they can ban transfats and soft drinks, LEAD would be a snap! A very dangerous slippery slope. Just another reason why I am hording every WW (and lead in general) I can find!

I feel safer now. The wind could blow from the east and come this way. We all could have been poisoned.
I would be out there offering to recycle wheel weights. Put an add in the paper, offer FREE pickup.
