I have a friend who bought a 16in large lever 44 mag rossi,he cant get it on his shoulder to shoot(too short), he is looking to me to ask about a mount that he can use to add a lazer/reddot scope on it so he can hit a dirt bank on a regular basis.
any thoughts would help...

i already told him to sell it,but he wont listen.

he thinks he can take a vw and race with the nascar boys

thanks

The newer Rossi's come drilled and tapped for a scout scope mount which you can buy from Rossi for about $12. Raise the rear sight off the barrel with your fingers and look for some plug screws underneath the rear sight, there are 4. If you can see any at all it's D&T'd. Simply buy the mount and screw what ever you wish to it.

Is he too short, or is the buttstock? If its the stock, Maybe putting on a slip on type of buttpad would give him the extra lenght he needs on this rifle?

Are you talking about one of those new ranch hand "mares leg" jobbies?

One might be able to mount a new recoil pad of a greater length, thus lengthening the LOP. Don't really need the recoil protection, per se, but it would be longer.

I think the "mare's leg" has a 10" or 12" tube. I would like to have one to put a stock on, but that would require a ATF tax stamp and such and I dont have the extra money right now, and not sure how practical it would be in the end of if it would just be an expensive toy. Probably the latter.

sorry, he bought a ranch hand. and the bbl is 12 in.

i think its useless.....i told him to sell it and buy something with a buttstock.

he spun it around a couple weeks ago and still is black and blue...

I think the general consensus is that those are fairly useless and that those were not really a standard item of the "old west."

I suspect your buddy would be better served by a 44 Ruger Blackhawk if he wants a handy repeater.

Red dot great idea -

Might have him try what the Tacticool kids do with their AK pistols

Single point sling - attach to back of pistol and push forward - sort of anti-stock

might want to leave a little more room than this guy did
