We had a small g/show this past weekend. Had a 99r .243 follow me to the house sat. Anybody know what thread size the front hole is ? Both sights taken off for the scope. I do have a piece of dovetail blank to fill it with.

S/N is 1,002,xxx if anyone has numbers past 1950, that's where mine stop.

Found 2 EL Paso 4x weavers, a denver 3x9 redfield, & a 2.5x10 4200 bushnell with ruger rings also, I was a pretty happy camper, [smilie=l:.

Thanks, by that number guess mine would be early in production for that caliber. Of course the "never say never" does apply for Savage, lol.

One of our members just reminded me about the lever boss codes, L would make it 1960.

I seldom see 99's at the gun shows anymore, it's one thing that I think I need. Been wanting one in 30-30 for a long time, have yet to find one.
