I have an RCBS LAM (first gen), looking for a .430 die.

I see the Lyman die 598640 is $23 and the RCBS 598640 is $31.

From what I understand, either will fit my machine. The lyman appears to have two levels of holes, the RCBS has one.

For those experienced with these dies, which one should I go with?

Thank You.

I have the same lub/sizer. I have both RCBS and Lyman sizing dies. I can not detect any difference in the two sizing dies. I would go with the Lyman and save some $$$$.

Have both Lyman and RCBS Lube sizers, and multi dies of both Lyman and RCBS, and they are interchangeable.

I like using the RCBS with one row of holes if I am lubing boolits with one lube groove. The 4 holes fill better with less pressure. Also, it the boolit is bevel base, you can lower, crank the pressure, let pressure off and raise the boolit with the messy base.

I've had trouble with gas checks catching in and being damaged by the RCBS style dies. I prefer the multi-hole Lyman type.

I have both lyman and RCBS size dies much prefer the lyman, they are easier to line
up the bullet and fit gas checks. Robert
