I have an opportunity to buy serveral hundred lbs of linotype from one of my sons teachers. (if you can believe it) He paid .50/lb for 20 years ago. He has not stated a price yet. What would be a good price to offer for it?

As hard as it's getting to find, $1 per pound would be a bargain. The last I heard, lead was on the metals market for 85 cents per pound.

There is a guy that will be asking $1 per lb on the next batch he releases. Anything below that is a deal.

Swagerman: have you tried "high speed babbit" sometimes called nickel babbit, which is 80% tin, about 12% antimony. The copper or nickel constituent is probably a sulfate or another compound, has never caused a problem to me when I add 2% to ww or lead. Some scrapyards are a little confused by it, not too expensive.

I just picked up 1500 lbs I figured by the time i paid for gas i had 65cents a lb into it and that doenst count the day i used to pick it up. IF you can get it for a dollar a pound id say buy it. Someone else will if you dont and in a year or two you wont find it at any price.
