Hello, I recently purchased some of Latherunners aluminum stock, great stuff by the way. The thickness was .004 more than the material I had been using,so I decided to modify my die to take advantage of the better stock,I chose .325 as my target size,8mm, got a check that crimps tight on the shank and smooth with the bullet sized .325.-----question-is it more better to have a check that sizes to groove diameter or is close good enough? My storebought .30 cal checks mike at .309 and are they also used on .303B and 7.62R which have a grove dia usually several thou greater than the .308? I make my own tools so when I update my 7mm Mauser, a Chilean model with a .287 grove should I go for that dia or a lesser one. I have always thought, maybe wrongly that if a gas check didn't completely seal the bore that it didn't do all it was supposed to. Please enlighten me to the finer points of gas checks, all info and personal experiences appreciated
