In preparation for owning a set of 22lr to 22cf projectile dies I have started picking up everything shinny including rim fire cases. I was just wondering, are 22mags and 17s good for anything when it comes to swaging?

Absolutely but you will need a slightly larger derim die, but if you want anything 62gr or more with a full jacketed hollow point(no lead exposed) that is your go to jacket, 22mag are slighty thicker than 17HMR

22 mags are a great option for .243 bullets.

If you have the larger de-rimmer, you can make 243 or 257's with them. Of course you have to cut off the 17's first. I'm not sure if the smaller de-rimmer will work. Perhaps if the case is pushed in just far enough to iron out the rim, then pushed back down the way it came in? I'll have to test that with lots of lube.

I ran some 22 mags with my 22 LR derimmer. Lots of force, and lube, but it worked.

I tried derimming some 22Mags with my 22LR derimmer. It worked (with a lot or force) for about half dozen, then the head of one got rammed into the mouth of the one before it. Believe me, it was not easy to get out without damaging the die. I won't do that anymore. It works fine with Stingers though.
