Can you use the large 310 Lyman/Ideal handles with pistol dies, or must you use the small handles?

It really depends on the length of the case and the individual die.

Char-Gar,

Most of the handles I see that are marked "L" seem to differ from the "S" handles only in the length of the spigot for the dies on the side. They seem to bottom out at more or less the same point. You might have some trouble running something like a .32 ACP set to the very bottom of an "L" handle, but since they only neck size, I would thing you could run almost any die in far enough to deprime, size and bell necks, and seat bullets. A crimp might be out of reach on some setups, though.

What are you trying to match up?

I am just trying to get by with one set of handles.

Be aware there are "Special" handles that have a larger thread.

I have the same question, I have a set of new Large tool... and I dont see it marked as anything (Large or Small) and was also trying to get to one set of handles. I just dont see any differences in the tongs tools. I wont be doing any 32 acp.... just 45 LC and maybe a 30-30, I can see it would matter, but I was wondering what more experienced people than me (everyone) had to say.

I've loaded 44 Special on a set of large handles. Pretty sure Lyman calls for small for it. Try it! Then let the rest of us know. :)

Would this work the other way around? Can the short socket handles be used to work rifle (30-06) dies? Or would there not be enough adjustment space/strength in the short socket handles?
