I have a 20# and if it starts to drip I follow instructions turn the stem and all is well. The 10# just runs out of lead a lot faster as I cast a lot of 400 and up grain boolits drains 10# very fast.

I have two 20# Lee pots and 1 10#er, as for leaking I can't see much difference they all leak some but not all the time. I have never rebuilt the 10#er and I've had it at least 30 years. I have rebuilt one of the 20#ers but only the bottom pouring mechanizim, a free kit from lee was a big help. I've had the 20#ers for about 20 years.

I have both sizes of LEE pots, a Lyman, and an RCBS. They all drip once in a while. Think about it, you have a sloppy fit joint valve holding back, up to 20# of 700 degree molten metal. Heck it's supposed to drip now and then.
Just be prepared for it, and it's not a problem.

I've seen a couple of the Lee pots with needle-nose Vise-Grips clamped vertically onto the top of the valve rod, adding weight to guard against stalagmite formation. I keep/kept an ingot mould under all my pots to gather droplets or stalagmites that form thereon.

The pin wants to float.
I put about six fender washers under the wood knob on my 20 pounder.
They also keep me from accidentally touching the side of the pot when I operate the valve without looking.

I have both, neither leak. The trick is; never empty the pot, that allows crud inot the spout, & don;t smelt in it. They do occasionally drip a bit, but I think all melters do.
