Got anyone out there who can analyze the composition of a piece of lead ? Got my hands on some plating anode rods. Wonder how much tin is in them?

some one should be able to.
if the anodes are about 3-1/2 wide and about 3/8th's thick and about 10 lbs in weight those are pure [99.9] tin.
others i have seen are about an inch wide about 5/8th thick and about 15-16" long those are wiping solder and are usually 63/37.
i have also seen anodes that are star shaped [6 or 8 sided] that are pure also.
most plating anodes are straight tin.

I seem to remember there being a formula for determining binary alloys by comparing their weight to their volume.

Most of our pipeline anodes are magnesium.

I wish they were mostly tin but their not. Getting only the stubs which are 2 ft long. 4 in wide by 1in thick. Weighs about 30 lbs. Makes a darn pretty bullet.
