I picked up an old model 3 screw Super Blackhawk and the grip frame has been chaged to an XR3 Red frame. I would like to find an original steel grip frame, with the square trigger guard, to take the pistol back to original condition. Does anyone have a lead on an original Super Blackhawk frame for sale? Thanks

Check Brownells. I believe they sell grip frames for these guns.

If you're planning to shoot heavy bullets out of the gun, you might want to double think changing the grip. The dragoon square back will bite your second finger when shooting 300 gr bullets.

Place a "WTB" ad over on Rugerforum.com and someone will fix you up. Does yours still have the Super hammer and trigger?

FWIW, mine have never bit me when shooting 300's at 1300fps :)

I will post a "WTB" on Ruger forum. Thanks

Just a thought, but you can use a New Model Ruger grip frame on an Old Model by making a small block to hold the trigger return spring. It is pinned in by an existing pin in the grip frame and works very well. Might be a little easier to find a NM than an OM one and cheaper also. Theres a tutorial/sticky on doing it on the Rugerforum. I've got one I might sell but I wouldn't take less than $175 for it and the wide trigger it needs for a wider trigger slot in it.
