My Lyman manual #49 states that for the mold # 311672/160gr,the starting load of 4759 is 18 grains up to 27.5.
This is for a 160 grain bullet. My cast bullet, from this mould and alloy mix,is 165 grains with the gas check on it.
My question is; Even if my cast bullet is a little heavy,do i still use the 160 data or what is to be used????
I am loading for my 308,in a mod.700 Rem.

Use that data. This is why we start low and work up.
Bullet weight with cast will always vary unless you are using an alloy direct froma foundry wih a known composition. Even then there are small variations from mould to mould if they are cherry cut. Lyman also has "redesigned" some moulds over the years.

I usually am nowhere near max pressures so I find a bullet in the weight range I am using and start with that data.
