Here is a pic of a Mod 8 and 81 that I picked up in the last 2 months. Both have the original style receiver sights. $800 for the 2 and figure the sights together were worth $250 so $550 for both isn't too bad. Now I need to shoot them and figure out what loads I have for my Model 14 and 2-336's they might like.

Nice find. I like the old Model 8s. There was a guy posting in the hunting forum a year or so back that routinely hunts with his and uses cast loads. I haven't done it, but it seems like because they are recoil operated, they should be cast friendly for auto loaders.

I have an 81 in 300 savage that is very cast friendly. Took a lot of load tweaking at first but once the learning curve kicked in all is well now.

Beautiful, i have always wanted a 81 in .35! Isn't that what Hamer used against Bonnie and Clyde?

I think so. I'm thinking he had a special 20 round magazine too.

I would love to find some 20 round mags. They also used them in prisons. They are expensive if one shows up. Stripper clips are very expensive if you can find them also.

I don't have an 8, but I wonder if VZ-52 strippers would be close enough to work?

Don't know as I don't have a VZ-52. Maybe I can find one to try.
