According to our guide the Davidson is famous for skunking fishermen. LOML and I took a trip after he taught LOML to cast a fly rod. Took us up by the fish hatchery if you are familiar with the river in south western North Carolina. Our first time fishing trout with a fly rod. This is a midge stream, so we fished tiny flies underwater.
Between the two of us we caught and released 11 trout, on a wild catch and release stream. No stocked trout in this river above a certain point.
I've been flyfishing for bluegill since I was a teenager. LOML never did, always used a bush button or open spinning reel. We both learned a lot.
Had a lot of fun, came back exhausted!
